About Us

Mr. Wallen, an Enrolled Agent, is the owner of Highland Tax Group, Inc. and has been helping taxpayers resolve their IRS tax issues since March of 2004.

Mike has worked extensively with corporations, small businesses, the self-employed, and individuals to help them resolve their outstanding IRS tax liabilities, IRS tax audits and offer tax consulting and advisory. He has assisted with services such as IRS payment plans, IRS Offer In Compromise, subordination of IRS tax liens, IRS tax lien work,  IRS tax penalties, IRS Audits, FBAR Representation, and non-collectible status for his clients. He prides himself on providing excellent tax resolution services, customer service, and audit representation to his client’s by way of consultation, coaching and offering a simple 4-step approach to dealing with tax issues. Mike is passionate about helping individuals in need of IRS Tax Help and IRS tax debt relief.

Mike worked in the construction trade while attending Metropolitan State University of Denver, until his introduction to the IRS tax debt relief world. Through working construction, while going to school, he was able to learn the value of hard work, upholding a high ethical standard, and a willingness to go the extra mile. Mike is a member of the (NAEA) National Association of Enrolled Agents, and (COSEA) Colorado Society of Enrolled Agents.

He enjoys traveling abroad and has been to countries such as Peru, Iceland, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Belguim, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Canada, Mexico, and France just in the past few years.  He also thoroughly enjoys hiking 14’er’s, cycling, and spending time with his soon to be wife Angela, his son William. He also attends the local home team sporting events such as the Colorado Buffs, and Denver Broncos games. Mike and Highland Tax enjoy volunteering with the American Transplant Foundation as well as donating to charities such as the Wild Animal Sanctuary and the Buff Club.

Megan Scott is from Evergreen, Colorado and has lived in Denver since 2013. She attended the University of Colorado – Boulder where she received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and is currently enrolled in a Master’s business program at Colorado State University-Global Campus. Megan has several years’ experience in the administrative and human resources field where she discovered her passion for helping others find solutions to their problems.

She is an avid fan of the outdoors and enjoys running, hiking in the mountains with her dog, snowboarding, and spending time with her husband Jim.
