3 Celebrities Who Have Been Audited By the IRS

From ordinary individuals to the rich and famous, IRS audits strike virtually every type of person. As you struggle with IRS issues, you can at least take solace in knowing that the following celebrities have been in your shoes:

Gisele Bündchen

Bündchen blames Forbes for an audit she suffered, claiming that her position atop a 2013 list of high-earning models was inaccurate. In an interview with MdeMulher, she explained, “I’ve already been audited by the IRS because of this list and, truthfully, whether I’m on this list or not doesn’t interest me.”

Lil Wayne

Hip hop artist Lil Wayne has faced repeated issues with the IRS throughout the duration of his career. In 2012, for example, he paid $7.72 million to settle tax liens. A later lien revealed that he owed $5,843,952 for fiscal year 2011 and $6,311,132 for 2012. These are just the most recent examples of the rapper’s tax troubles; he’s butted heads with the IRS since his career took off well over a decade ago.

Willie Nelson

Outside of country music, Willie Nelson is, perhaps, best known for not paying his taxes. After years of allegedly relying on tax shelters and failing to pay up, he lost extensive equipment and property in six states to the IRS. He was also charged with a debt of $16.7 million, including $10.2 million in interest and penalties. At the time, the IRS claimed that he owed $32 million.

Nelson’s IRS issues didn’t stop him from living a full life — he even admitted to parking his Honeysuckle Rose II bus outside IRS offices and spending his lunches signing autographs for the many fans who gathered there (including some IRS employees).

Your tax situation might not look exactly like Gisele Bündchen’s, Lil Wayne’s, or Willie Nelson’s, but it’s still worth addressing alongside a professional. Call the Highland Tax Group at 720-398-6088 for more information.
